When You See Me

FBI Special Agent Kimberly Quincy and Boston detective D.D. Warren have assembled a task force to trace the digital breadcrumbs left by a recently deceased serial kidnapper. When a disturbing discovery in rural Georgia leads the team to a small town that seems fundamentally wrong, they bring in Flora Dane, who survived the kidnapper's captivity, and a true-crime researcher. What they uncover suggests that the man's worst crimes are still to be revealed, and that something in this Georgia town has been going on for years.

Kirsten Potter narrates the multi-character ensemble with the authority of someone who knows these characters from prior books in the respective series. Her management of the three very different women, the professional agent, the traumatized survivor, and the institutional detective, gives each perspective its proper distinctiveness. At just under eleven hours, this crossover entry delivers on the premise of three of Gardner's strongest characters working together.
