Ever Montgomery is a sharp, guarded journalist whose past has made her both cynical and relentless in pursuit of a story. As punishment, she's assigned to spend six weeks shadowing Linc, forcing two people with every reason to distrust each other into uncomfortable proximity. The tension between them is less about attraction than about recalibration: who these people actually are beneath their public armor.

Matthew Holland and Charlotte North split the dual narration with natural chemistry, lending the push-and-pull dynamic a satisfying rhythm that prose alone can't quite replicate. Holland brings warmth and edge to Linc without softening him into a cliche, while North gives Ever a dry intelligence that keeps the story grounded. At just over six hours, the pacing is tight. Bennett's New Adult voice translates cleanly to audio, and the result is a quick, engaging listen with real emotional payoff.
